Wera Allen Keys

Wera Allen Key and L-Key Sets

Wera Allen Keys, also known as L-Keys, hex keys, and hex wrenches, are durable and made to last. The keys are made from a hardened steel material, which makes them resistant to pesky wear and tear that tools experience over time. The hex design of the keys helps users get the right amount of torque that they need without stripping or damaging the socket screws. Allen keys are designed with a slightly longer handle to provide a better vantage point so that less force needs to be applied. This creates a smooth rotation while loosening and tightening screws and minimizes damage. Nobody wants to waste money on products that don't last; that's why Wera is an easy choice.

What are Allen Keys Used For?

Allen keys are unique in the sense that they are not used in every job. They can only be used when a builder is using allen bolts and socket screws. This is due to the hexagonal shape of the allen key – the reason they are often referred to as a hex key or wrench. A common use for allen keys is when individuals or experts are assembling furniture or repairing bicycles.

Imperial vs. Metric Sizes

It’s important to note which type of hex keys your project requires. At Mr. Tools, we carry both imperial and metric hex key sets. For builders in the United States, imperial measurements are more commonly used. When looking at other parts of the world, such as European countries, one will find that the metric system is the main unit of measurement. For example, a key from an imperial set will be sized as fractions, and metric sets will be in mm. Also, be aware that many metric sizes do not have an equivalent imperial size, and vice versa.
